Role Overview
The UX/UI Designer supports Second Life’s digital initiatives by designing intuitive, user-centered experiences across web and mobile platforms. This role focuses on translating complex organizational and technical requirements into clear, accessible, and visually coherent digital interfaces.
This position is ideal for experienced designers or advanced emerging professionals who want to apply product-focused design skills in a mission-driven NGO environment. The designer will collaborate closely with developers, communications teams, and project leads to improve usability, accessibility, and digital engagement across Second Life’s platforms.
Key Responsibilities
User Experience Design
- Transform product ideas and functional requirements into user-centered design solutions
- Map user journeys, identify friction points, and improve interaction flows
- Conduct UX audits and usability assessments for digital products and platforms
- Design wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models for web and mobile experiences
User Interface Design
- Create high-fidelity UI layouts aligned with organizational branding
- Design responsive and accessible interfaces for websites, dashboards, and digital tools
- Build and maintain scalable design systems and reusable component libraries
- Ensure visual consistency across digital products and interfaces
Research & Optimization
- Conduct usability testing and gather behavioral insights to improve user experience
- Analyze user interaction patterns and recommend measurable UX improvements
- Support optimization of engagement, accessibility, and retention through design refinement
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, product stakeholders, and communication teams
- Translate complex technical and operational requirements into intuitive design structures
- Collaborate on iterative product improvements based on feedback and testing results
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in UX.UI design for digital products, platforms, or web applications
- Strong knowledge of wireframing, prototyping, and interface design principles
- Proficiency in Figma or comparable UX/UI design tools
- Understanding of responsive design and accessibility best practices
- Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment
- Fluency in English
Desirable
- Experience designing dashboards, data-driven interfaces, or SaaS-like products
- Knowledge of design systems and scalable component libraries
- Familiarity with user psychology, behavioral design, or conversion optimization
- Background in product design, human-computer interaction, or digital design
Time Commitment
- 10-15 hours per week, flexible scheduling
- Duration: 3-6 months, with possibility for extension by mutual agreement
